Inscriptions

Obverse — an extraordinary regional issue

Областной кредитный билетъ Урала чрезвычайнаго выпуска

Regional credit note of the Urals, extraordinary issue — printed because the Urals were cut off from Moscow and the front was moving

Symbology

Soviet arms
Hammer and sickle crossed over a globe in a wreath of wheat, with a rising sun behind - industry and agriculture, the world as the field of action, and the sunrise of a new order. It replaced the eagle entirely rather than editing it.

What was happening

Issued at Ekaterinburg by the Ural Regional Soviet — the same body that ordered the execution of the imperial family in July 1918 — through the local office of the State Bank. An extraordinary regional credit note, printed because the Urals were cut off from Moscow and the front was moving.
