What was happening
Camp money from a German prisoner-of-war camp of the First World War, issued by the IX Army Corps administration. Prisoners were paid for work in scrip that could only be spent in the camp canteen — a closed monetary system, designed so that no real currency reached a prisoner's hands and none left the camp.
