Deliberately sober after the hyperinflation: no allegory, no gold promise, just the ordinance that created it.

What was happening

Reichsbank notes of the years between the two inflations. The 1929 series is the money of the brief Weimar stabilisation — the Rentenmark of 1923 had ended the hyperinflation, the Reichsmark replaced it in 1924, and for about five years German money held its value again. That ended in 1929.
