Symbology

Arif Heralić, the Zenica steelworker
The Zenica foundry worker whose photographed likeness served for years as the emblem of Yugoslav industrial labour.

What was happening

The 1978-series 10 dinara, dated 12 August 1978, carrying the same portrait as the 1968 note ([[yugoslavia-10-dinara-1968]]): the Zenica steelworker Arif Heralić (1922–1971), goggles on his cap, blast furnace behind. For two decades the same face stood for Yugoslav industry on the smallest paper denomination.

The reverse is ornamental, with large value numerals; printed at the Zavod za izradu novčanica in Belgrade.

This account belongs to the type, not this copy — it is shared by every 10 Dinara, SFR Yugoslavia, 1978 in the collection.
