What was happening

A 1993 Tesla note. The face shows Nikola Tesla (1856–1943) again; the back shows the Nikola Tesla Museum in Belgrade, which holds his ashes and his papers. Tesla recurs more than any other figure on Yugoslav and Serbian money, from the 1981 500 dinara ([[yugoslavia-500-dinara-1981]]) through the 1992 1000 dinara ([[yugoslavia-1000-dinara-1992]]) to this note.

Dated 1993, issued as the inflation climbed toward its January 1994 peak.
